Not anymore, there are special carriages with bike racks where they can hang up their bikes. This is OK on short trips but on longer trips when many passengers are standing we are rather annoyed with the amount of room the ones who cannot find room in the racks take up. I am speaking of a 2 hour journey up the mountains with only 4 cars on the train.
I can understand that. Here in Germany we have more and more cyclists but I never saw racks for the bikes in a train. Seems to be a good thing. I know that some cities are doing experiences with magnets to hold the bikes. Sometimes it’s not possible to enter a train because of so many cyclists standing inside next to the door.
Just what I mean, especially in hot weather it just makes everything much more uncomfortable. They like to ride the train up the mountains and coast back down again.
